According to the Czech Statistical Office, 17.8 million m³ of wood were harvested in the Czech Republic in 2024, of which 8.5 million m³ were damaged wood. In line with the decline in spruce stands, the volume of damaged wood is also decreasing noticeably. The peak was reached in 2020. Back then, almost 34 million m³ of damaged wood were harvested – out of a total logging volume of just under 35 million m³.
