The small overall volume of available damaged wood is in stark contrast to the situation in previous years. Since 2018, the Central European sawmill industry has been used to large volumes of beetle-damaged wood coming onto the market at the start of summer. This is not the case this year. As a result, the supply situation at sawmills is good at best. In some regions, though, it is already quite tense.
