A budget proposal in the U.S. Senate includes the sale of 2.2 to 3.3 million acres (approximately 0.9 to 1.3 million hectares) of federal forest land. The goal is to raise US-$5 to US-$10 billion (€4.3 to €8.7 billion) over the next ten years – to finance, among other things, tax cuts and infrastructure projects.
