Almost all log price indices with increases

In April, a producer price index of 109.1% was reported for spruce logs in German state forests (base: 2015 = 100%). Compared to March, this corresponds to an increase of 1.8 percentage points. Year on year, the price index was up by 10.7 points. As for spruce cuttings, B, Destatis reported an index value of 116.9% in April and therefore an increase of 1.7 points compared to March and of 13.1 points compared to April 2024.

The producer price index for oak logs saw the most significant month-on-month increase, rising by 5.6 percentage points to 134.7%. Compared to April 2024, however, it fell slightly by 1.2 percentage points. For beech logs, Destatis recorded an index value of 125.4% in April. This makes it the only type of log wood to see a decrease compared to the previous month (-1.3 percentage points). Compared to April 2024, the price index increased by 3.5 percentage points.
