Oak log price with an increase

In April, the producer price index for oak logs increased compared to the previous month, while the price indices for beech logs, spruce cuttings, B, and spruce logs decreased.

Destatis reports an oak log price index of 135.9% for the month of April (base: 2015 = 100%). Compared to March, this corresponds to an increase of 5.9 percentage points. Compared to April 2023, however, the index value fell by 10 percentage points.

The price index for spruce logs was at 98.4% in April, down slightly compared to the month before (98.55%). Year on year, though, a decrease of 7.9 percentage points was recorded. 

As for spruce cuttings, B, the producer price index fell by 2.1 percentage points month on month and by as many as 13.4 percentage points year on year and reached a value of 103.85% in April.

A price index of 121.9% is reported for beech logs. Here, the index value fell by 0.5 percentage points compared to March and by 17.8 percentage points compared to April 2023.
