Sawlog price index at a new all-time high

In the second quarter, the Austrian spruce/fir sawlog price index saw a year-on-year increase of 31 percentage points. Compared to the second quarter of 2020, it even rose by 70 percentage points.

Having reached this all-time high, the index value, which is currently at 174%, also outperforms that of the third quarter of 2021. At the time, the Austrian sawlog price index had peaked at 161%, following a strong one-year-long upward trend.

The current development of prices for this product indicates an impending downward trend. However, this assessment is not a reliable forecast.
