Log price index at a new record level in March

In March, the price indices of log wood and lumber saw further increases both month on month and year on year. The log price index even reached a new record high.

In March, the Austrian log price index was at 164.12%, reaching a new all-time high and breaking the record set in September 2021 (158.03%). This is according to the Austrian Timber Industry Association. Compared to February, the index value was up by 7.19 percentage points. Year on year, it increased by 45.26 percentage points.

The lumber price index also continued its upward trend in March, recording an increase of 11.19 percentage points compared to the month before, which brings the index to 207.05%. Compared to March 2021 (141.5%), the index value rose by 65.55 percentage points
