In the Czech Republic, the bark beetle situation is seen as a chance to make forests more diverse and resistant to climate change in the future. The goal is to significantly change the composition of forests by favoring deciduous types of trees, as eagri.cz reports.

The country’s Ministry of Agriculture offers financial support for the containment of the effects of bark beetle infestation as well as for reforestation. In 2020, the Ministry of Agriculture made the record sum of nearly CZK 1.2 billion (€47 million) available to forestry, which is CZK 341 million (€13 million) more than in 2019. Furthermore, CZK 7 billion (around €275 million) have been paid out until the end of 2020 to contain the effects of the bark beetle calamity.
