Log exports to China doubled

From January to July, Germany shipped more than 2.8 million m³ of softwood logs to China, i.e. already half of overall German exports. Regular customer Austria imports only about 40% of this volume.

In the first seven months, German softwood log exports grew by 52% year on year, reaching a total of 5.54 million m³. The increase recorded in shipments to China is remarkable: With 2.82 million m³, they have more than doubled (+112%).

Marked increases were also recorded in exports to important European markets. Exports to Austria rose by 18% to 1.13 million m³, those to Belgium grew by 15% and reached 590,000 m³. Germany also saw its softwood log sales increase in Sweden (+37%; 143,000 m³), the Czech Republic (+7%; 122,000 m³) and the Netherlands (+55%; 110,000 m³).
