According to Södra, the investment in the sawmill in Värö is going to focus mainly on final trimming and drying systems, log and sawn timber sorting as well as sawing itself.

Södra is very satisfied with the development and profitability of the production site. Thanks to the expansion, it is possible to increase capacity and strengthen competitiveness. “We will also be able to offer more of planed products from Värö. We see a constant growth on the market for processed products, which will also provide opportunities for higher pellet volumes,” says Jörgen Lindquist, President of Södra’s Wood segment.

“Operating a big CLT plant and Sweden’s largest sawmill in the same place is an excellent opportunity for using synergies at Värö and this will strengthen our offer for customers,” concludes Lindquist.

The completion of the sawmill is scheduled for fall 2021.
