Almost 70 million sm³ of damaged wood

The response of the German ministry of agriculture to an inquiry by The Green Party from October, the damaged wood volume in German federal states will increase by 53% compared to last year (2018: 32.5 million sm³).

The federal states North Rhine-Westphalia (14.5 million sm³; +69% yoy), Bavaria (9.8 million sm³; +53%) and Hessia (7.5 million sm³; +60%) reported the biggest damaged wood volumes.

In Lower Saxony (4.6 million sm³; -15%) as well as Schleswig-Holstein (195,000 sm³; -54%) the damaged wood figures, on the other hand, declined compared to 2018.

In total, all federal states (including the city states) are expected to accure a damaged wood volume of 105 million sm³ over the past two years.
