Roundwood harvests amount to 6.6 m sm³

The Finnish forestry sector harvested 6.6 million sm³ of roundwood in January. The volume was 28% above the ten-year average value for January and 2% above last year's level, the Finnish Statistics Institute informs. Industrial roundwood harvest comprised 2.7 million sm³ of sawlogs and 3.9 million sm³ of pulp.

The industrial roundwood haulage from non-industrially owned private forests amounted to 5.9 million sm³. Forestry enterprises and Finnish Forestry Administration Metsähallitus harvested 0,7 million sm³ of industrial roundwood in their forests.

Next to industrial roundwood, also wood fuel volumes are included in the montly statustics. In January 370,000 sm³ of wood for energy generation was harvested.
