Log harvest dropped in 2017

The Federal Agency for Forestry (Rosleskhoz) published data on last year’s log harvest in all Russian regions. Logging decreased, among others, in the country’s biggest region Irkutsk.

Last year, the overall log harvest decreased by 0.7% compared to 2016, falling to a total of 212.4 million m³. Logging activity thus declined for the first time in three years.

While only 202.8 million m³ of logs had been harvested in 2014, the number rose to 205.1 million m³ (+1.1%) in 2015. 2016 also saw an increase compared to the previous year, with 213.8 million m³ of logs (+4.2%) harvested.
