Sweden: less softwood log stocks

Softwood sawlog warehouse stocks totaled an estimated 2.1 million m³ in the 2Q, which in comparison to the same period last year means a decline by 21%. Total stocks of softwood sawlogs, cellulose and wood shavings have been reported to amount to 7.3 million m³ (excluding bark) by the end of June, according to Swedish statistics authorities. This means a decline by 12% compared to the same period last year.

Total pulpwood stocks were 4.4. million m³ (-8% compared to the 2Q of 2016). On the whole, considerable regional differences could be observed: In region 2, pulpwood stocks were 28% short of last year's level, in region 4, however, stocks came out 14% higher.

The estimations of wood shavings stocks range around 0,8 million m³. This is a decline of 10% compared to June 30, 2016.
