Nearly 500,000 t of pellets imported

From January to October, Germany imported 492,000 t of pellets. That is 45% or 153,000 t more than in the same period in 2024.

In the first ten months, German pellet imports from main supplier Denmark decreased by 7% year on year to 94,000 t. Belgium follows in second place with a quantity of 86,000 t (+153%), and Poland ranks third with 65,000 t (+39%).

Germany imported 64,000 t from the USA from January to October. That is 17% less than in 2024. Purchases from the two neighboring countries, Austria (63,000 t, +336%) and the Czech Republic (38,000 t, +280%), increased massively year on year. Meanwhile, deliveries from Ukraine decreased slightly. From January to October 2024, almost 25,000 t were imported. This year, Destatis reports a quantity of just over 23,000 t (-6%).

Compared to last year, German pellet imports have only exceeded this year’s levels in two months. In May 2024, 59,000 t were imported (2025: 33,000 t), while in September the import volume amounted to 56,500 t (2025: 52,600 t).
