The German Pellet Institute (DEPI) reports a pellet production output of 1.036 million t in the third quarter. Thus, as in the second quarter, the 1-million-t-mark was once again exceeded. Compared to the second quarter, pellet production increased by 3.3%. Compared to the third quarter of 2024 (929,000 t), output grew by 11.5%.
In the first nine months of this year, the German industry produced 2.987 million t of wood pellets. Year on year, this corresponds to an increase of 7.1%, or 201,000 t.
Nearly 98% of the pellets produced are ENplus-A1-quality pellets. The DEPI puts the export share at 14.1%, which corresponds to the average of recent years. The share of bagged pellets rose slightly to 29.2%. As usual, sawmill byproducts are the main raw material used in production, at 91.9%.
