German pellet price exceeds the €300-mark again

According to the German Pellet Institute (DEPI), pellets cost on average €286/t in December 2024 (loose, 6 t purchase, ENplus A1 quality). In January 2023, the end consumer price was €327.2/t. That corresponds to a decrease of 6% or €21/t. In 2024, the pellet price fell below the €300/t-mark in March (€296.2/t) and reached its annual low of €273.8/t in September.

The price for a commercial purchase quantity of 26 t is €289.1/t in Germany at the beginning of the year. In December 2024, buyers only paid €270.3/t, i.e. 7% less than this month. Compared to January 2024 (€309/t), the pellet price fell by more than 6%.

According to the DEPI, the following regional prices are charged for a purchase quantity of 6 t: €299.3/t in central Germany, €306.8/t in the south and €314.1/t in the north and east of the country. Bigger quantities (26 t) are traded at the following prices in January 2025: €282.4/t in central Germany, €290.4/t in the south and €295.2/t in the north and east.
