Mixed development of pellet prices

In Germany, the neutral pellet price (without VAT, transport and handling costs) is at €188.4/t in September and thus down by €2.9/t compared to August. Compared to September 2023 (€264.6/t), the price fell by 29% or €76.2/t. Since the beginning of this year (January 2024: €225.8/t), the German pellet price has decreased every month, with the exception of June (+€1.2/t).

In Austria, a neutral pellet price of €215.3/t is recorded in September. Month on month (August: €215.1/t), this corresponds to a slight increase of 20 cents/t. Year on year, wood pellets have become cheaper by 29% or €87.5/t.

In Switzerland, on the other hand, the neutral pellet price increased by €5.5/t, reaching €284.5/t in September. Compared to the same month of last year, it is up by 15% or €51.9/t (September 2023: €336.4/t). In comparison with Germany, Swiss pellets are €96.1/t more expensive. Buyers also pay €69.2/t more in Switzerland than in Austria.
