Different pellet price trends in the DACH region

In Austria, the neutral pellet price (without VAT, transport and handling costs) is at €252.4/t in May, recording a month-on-month increase of €6.5/t or 2.6%. Year on year, however, the pellet price fell by €14.3/t. Since the start of the year (January: €386.1/t), the pellet price has decreased by €133.7/t in Austria.

In Germany, pellets cost €248.4/t in May, i.e. €5.9/t more than in April and €23.7/t less than in May 2022. From its all-time high of €531.8/t in September of 2022 to May 2023, the neutral pellet price has decreased by 53%.

In Switzerland, buyers pay €301.2/t in the month of May. Compared to the previous month, this corresponds to a decrease of €35.3/t. Compared to the same month of last year, on the other hand, the neutral pellet price rose slightly by €2.1/t. The ten-year average price, which is less sensitive to currency fluctuations, fell by €42.5/t month on month to €269/t. Compared to May 2022, a decrease of €3.9/t was recorded.
