The Enviva group, the world’s biggest manufacturer of industrial wood pellets, created around 400 new jobs with the plant in Lucedale and expects to create US-$250 million in economic value in the region. The raw material is sourced from areas within 120 km of the pellet mill.
The US group plans to double its annual production to 13 million tons in the coming five years. A new terminal was recently opened at the port of Pascagoula, and a production plant will soon go into operation in Bond, Mississippi.
