Growing pellets production in the East

With 2.1 million t/yr, Russia became the biggest European pellets producer in 2015. Depositing sawdust has recently become forbidden in Russia which is why sawmill owners have to further process by-products from now on, as proPellets Austria informs.

In recent years, the Baltic countries emerged as one of the most important European production regions. Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania are producing over 3 million t/yr in total, 2 million t of which are accounted for by the biggest European producer Graanul Invest.

The better part of those pellets are burnt in Danish, Britsh, Belgian and Swedish heating plants.
