Although the affected business occupies a strong position in an attractive market, it does not offer any strategic or operational synergies with Stora Enso's core activities in the field of renewable packaging.
As part of the strategic review, various scenarios for the affected business and its assets will be examined, including a potential divestment, in order to further sharpen Stora Enso's focus on renewable materials and packaging solutions.
The sawmills in Northern Europe – including processing in Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia – are not part of the review. This business remains of strategic importance for Stora Enso.
Stora Enso is one of Europe's largest sawn timber producers. The seven sawmills have a production capacity of around 3 million m³ and offer a wide range of sawn timber products and solid wood components. This unit accounts for around 50% of sales in the Wood Products segment, Stora Enso informs. In recent years, Stora Enso has developed leading building solutions that provide innovative concepts, services and a comprehensive product portfolio for climate-friendly timber construction.
Stora Enso plans to provide an update on this strategic review in 2026. Until then, operations will continue as usual – with the ongoing goal of providing customers with high-quality and competitive products and services.
