List General Contractor (List GC) specializes in the manufacture of high-quality furniture and interior outfitting for luxury yachts. The family-owned company is known worldwide for its customized craftsmanship and uses a wide range of fine materials that require high precision and meticulous processing.
Increasing efficiency in logistics
To further increase operational efficiency and safety, List GC recently added an electric Combi-WR4 to its logistics fleet. Developed by Irish material handling specialist Combilift, the Combi-WR4 is designed specifically for handling long and bulky materials and also boasts impressive maneuverability in tight spaces – making it the ideal addition to List GC’s production environment. “The narrow aisles and limited door widths at our production facility were a challenge. We were forced to look for a new material handling solution because our existing vehicles and conventional electric pallet trucks no longer met our requirements,” Stefan Zingl, Senior Coordinator of Operations at List GC, explains.
Production typically involves bulky materials with lengths between 3.5 and 5 m. The company processes 20 to 30 different types of high-quality veneer and mass timber in each project. The transport of these heavy and unwieldy materials through narrow aisles and doorways was becoming increasingly difficult with the existing equipment.
Decision after practical testing
“During our research, we finally came across Combilift’s product range,” Zingl tells us. “The company offered us the opportunity to test the equipment on-site during a free product demonstration. We decided to purchase this vehicle because it fully met our operational requirements.”
The Combi-WR4 is a multidirectional pedestrian reach stacker designed to also move sideways, which makes it ideal for handling long loads in narrow aisles and spaces. This design principle significantly reduces the risk of injuries, collisions, and damage to products, while contributing to maximum space utilization and a safer and more cost-efficient work environment, as Combilift emphasizes.
“During the product demonstration, we were particularly impressed by the patented multi-position tiller arm and the multidirectional maneuverability, which enables us to move long materials precisely even in very tight spaces,” Zingl says. “The vehicle ensures that our goods can be handled safely and without being damaged. It is also worth noting that the operator is not exposed to any crush zones, which significantly increases the safety of our employees.”
Sustainability as a shared priority
Sustainability is becoming increasingly important for companies worldwide and is a key priority for both Combilift and List GC. “With our strong commitment to quality and sustainability, Combilift’s electric vehicle is the perfect solution for our future,” Zingl says in conclusion.
