Decreasing demand and cheaper lamellas led to lower glulam prices

Article by Gerd Ebner (translated by Eva Guzely) | 07.08.2025 - 09:56

In June, producers were surprised by the slight drop in the price of lamellas. This, combined with temporarily lower demand, caused prices for visible-quality glulam to fall already six to eight weeks ago. As a result, they moved away from the target of €600/m³ set for this year.

Glulam prices are now ranging from €550 to €565/m³ in Germany, and from €545 to €560/m³ in Italy. In Germany, prices are nearly €20/m³ below the highest levels so far this year. In Italy, they are €15/m³ lower compared to this year’s peak.

In the first half of this year, glulam export markets performed better than the German domestic market. Accordingly, Austrian producers tend to operate in three shifts, while most German production sites reportedly work in two shifts.
