Among other things, the investment will cover the modernization of the log processing units, including sorting, debarking, and chip processing, and the construction of a new warehouse for finished products. Construction has already started and is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2027.

Georgia-Pacific acquired the OSB plant, which was built in 1983, from Grant Forest Products in 2010, along with the Allendale and Clarendon mills in South Carolina and the production site in Earlton, Ontario.

With the project in Englehart, Georgia-Pacific is continuing its efforts to modernize its various production facilities. In February, the company announced a US-$14 million investment in its plywood mill in Prosperity, South Carolina, where a new energy center will be built. The plywood mill in Emporia, Virginia, on the other hand, was permanently shut down on July 1.
