Increases in pallet imports and exports

In January, Germany imported a total of 4.7 million flat pallets. According to Destatis, this corresponds to a year-on-year increase of 15%. An upward trend can be observed in deliveries from all main supplying countries, with the exception of three. Imports from Denmark decreased by 49% to around 72,000 pieces, while those from Belgium were down by 21% and amounted to only 67,000 pieces. Pallet imports from Austria fell slightly by 1% to 153,000 pieces.

Meanwhile, purchases of flat pallets from Poland grew by 23% to over 2 million pieces. Marked increases were also recorded in imports from the Czech Republic (+21% to 812,000 pieces), Latvia (+28% to 419,000 pallets) and Ukraine (+17% to 164,000 pieces).

At the beginning of this year, Germany’s exports of flat pallets grew by 6% to 2.5 million pieces. The Netherlands remain the most important market (+8% to 519,000 pieces). Deliveries to Switzerland (+15% to 389,000 pieces), Belgium (+30% to 353,000 pallets) and Poland (+20% to 141,000 pieces) also increased substantially compared to January 2024.

A negative trend can be observed in exports of flat pallets to Italy (-4% to 97,000 pieces), Denmark (-18% to 64,000 pallets) and Sweden (-20% to 40,000 pieces).
