591,000 m³ of laminated timber – this is the third largest import volume since records began in 1999. As figures published by Eurostat show, bigger volumes of glulam and CLT were only imported in the first eleven months of 2010 (612,000 m³) and 2011 (595,000 m³).

Austria, by far Italy’s most important supplier of laminated timber, delivered 503,000 m³ across the border, i.e. 7% more than in the period January to November 2023. Austria’s share in total Italian imports increased by 4 percentage points and is now 85%.

Italy also imported more glulam and CLT from Germany (26,000 m³; +14%). In addition to Austria and Germany, an upward trend can also be observed in purchases from China (6,000 m³; +121%) and Estonia (4,000 m³; +52%).

Meanwhile, decreases were recorded in laminated timber imports from Latvia (14,000 m³; -47%), Poland (8,000 m³; -34%), Romania (7,000 m³; -7%), Slovenia (5,000 m³; -13%) as well as from Slovakia and Finland (both 6,000 m³; -57% and -26%, respectively).
