Sawdust down, wood chips with a slight recovery

Towards the end of 2024, the Austrian price index for wood chips increased, whereas that of sawdust decreased month on month. Compared to December 2023, a clear downward trend can be observed with both indices.

According to the Austrian Timber Industry Association, the price index of wood chips was at 211.76% in December 2024 (base: January 2001 = 100%). Compared to November, the price index was up by nearly 3.2 percentage points. Compared to December 2023 (241.58%), however, it fell by 29.82 points.

The Austrian sawdust price index decreased by 2.7 points month on month to 376.75% in December 2024. Year on year, it plummeted by 143.93 percentage points.
