Increase in laminated timber exports

Article by Günther Jauk (translated by Eva Guzely) | 09.01.2025 - 11:02

From January to October 2024, Austrian exports of glulam and CLT totaled 1.58 million m³. Year on year, this corresponds to an increase of 7%. Italy was once again the most important foreign market. The country purchased around 600,000 m³, i.e. 9% more than in 2023, from its neighbor. Germany (327,000 m³; +3%) and Switzerland (123,000 m³; +8%) follow in second and third place, respectively. Meanwhile, figures published by Statistik Austria show a decrease in deliveries to France (111,000 m³; -11%).

A marked increase of 34% to 85,000 m³ was recorded in shipments to Japan, although this only made up for part of the massive slump in 2023. As you can see in the Datacube, the last time Austrian laminated timber exports to Japan remained below the 100,000-m³-mark was in the first ten months of 2004.
