In May, the sawdust price index decreased by another 1.8 percentage points to 344.7%. Compared to the slump in April (-63.4 percentage points month on month), this latest decrease is very small. Nevertheless, the month of May marks a new low since February 2022.
A much more stable development can be observed when it comes to the price index of wood chips. After a relatively big decrease in April (-18 percentage points), i.e. at the start of the second quarter, the month-on-month decrease was much more moderate in May. The index value fell by only 1.1 percentage points to 214.1%. Nonetheless, you have to go back two years in our Datacube to find a lower price level.
