The turnover for German timber retailers in 2015 across all assortments gained 2% on average, as confirmed by the German Timber Trade Federation (GD Holz) after analyzing the December data. Thanks to a strong building sector and the related demand 2015 turned out as a successful business year. The gain achieved with floorings even exceeded the average value and reached +6%. Sales of construction elements (interior doors) as well as panel materials grew 3%. According to data from the intercompany comparison conducted by GD Holz, a downward sales development was observed for garden timber (-3%) and lumber (-4%) in 2015.
With a plus of 3%, the timber wholesale showed a stronger sales development than retailers (+1). In December, the month under report, sales were going particularly well with an increase of 12% compared to the same month of the previous year. Key revenue drivers in December were planed goods, wooden materials, construction elements and floorings.
