Even after the closure of the Binder Group's MDF plant in Hallein had been announced, the two other regional wood-based product companies Egger and Kaindl show no interested in a takeover. This seems put the final nail in the coffin for MDF Hallein.

According to Austrian Broadcasting Corporation ORF in Salzburg there were several attempts to sell the plant. The other two Binderholz operations in the province of Salzburg (solid wood panel plant in St. Georgen, CLT plant in Unterberg), however, are economically very successful, the ORF quotes company officials.
