Since 1988, SL Laser, Traunreut/DE, has been developing and producing high-quality industrial laser projection systems, complete with all the essential accessories. In more than 35 years, the developers have made groundbreaking advances in laser technology and operating software. Today, the company’s laser projectors, laser measurement systems, and positioning lasers are used with great success in woodworking on every continent. Over 10,000 systems are currently installed and in use around the globe.

Diverse range of applications

The applications of the ProDirector 7 laser projector range from positioning free-form elements on CNC routers and projecting slats and nail plates for nailed roof trusses, to projecting the contours of glulam beams, and even manufacturing in timber frame construction and the furniture industry.

The drawings with positions, outlines, and guide lines are created by the software or the control console and transferred to the ProDirector 7 via the CNC router’s control system. The laser projector then converts these data into laser lines and projects them 1:1 onto the workbench or blank. This eliminates the need to create templates or perform checks with the tool attached.

In furniture manufacturing, the ProDirector 7 laser projector simplifies the positioning of fittings and defines the precise contours for the work to be done. This makes the drilling of holes, which is otherwise an error-prone task, child’s play. The ProDirector 7 is also used in timber construction. In timber frame construction, for example, the wall battens and nail lines are displayed. When processing very large construction elements, several projectors can also be controlled on rails under the ceiling.

Simplified workflows

The mobile ProCollector is a popular measurement system in staircase construction or the assembly of fitted kitchens. Using just a few reference points, a 3D measurement is created, which is then converted into horizontal and vertical lines. The recorded data are entered into a DXF file and can be further processed with the customer’s CAD software. Whether it is used for positioning tools or aligning construction elements and workpieces – a professional line laser accelerates and simplifies workflows and reduces the error rate.

Software solutions for industry and trades

In addition to CAD data and electronic control technology, excellent software is required to act as a translation aid and interface for the data. Over the past decades, SL Laser has written and continuously further developed numerous user programs. Today, these are tailored to specific applications or perform support tasks.
