The core component of the investment is the full automation of the production plant, which will make the plant a complete, highly automated and fully digitally integrated production site, the companies inform. With a degree of automation of up to 86%, Gropyus is able to produce a wall element in 17 minutes with the new production line – a ceiling element is produced after just 16 minutes, they say.

Kuka is supplying a turnkey, flexible system and integrating 45 robots and 12 AGVs ("Automated Guided Vehicle"). In doing so, the Augsburg-based company combines in-depth process know-how from automated, modular house construction with many years of expertise from projects in the automotive industry.

Gropyus is responsible for the control of the entire plant and implements a task-based production management system. With this investment, the company plans to increase production capacity to over 240,000 m² of gross floor area, which corresponds to around 3500 apartments. Full production capacity is expected to be reached from the end of 2024.
