Due to continued weak construction activity in Europe, Metsä Group, Helsinki/FI, will cut back its outpupt of glue-laminated wood products in Finland. According to a Metsä press release, glulam production in Hartola/FI will shut down at the end of the first quarter for a maximum of twelve weeks. The LVL-lines for the Kerto product in Punkaharju/FI and Lohja/FI will be halted at the end of January for up to two weeks.

During this period, the affected 370 workers will temporarily be laid off. Negotiations with employee representatives should be completed during September, the press release says.
