In June, Monnet Seve will launch the first CLT-line in France in their glulam-factory in Sougy-sur-Loire/FR. Its centerpiece - a Fankhauser-vacuum press - is capable of producing up to 20,000 m³ per year. The line is currently being mounted. According to Hartmut Hering who has accompanied the project as a consultant, the plant in Burgundy will process spruce and Douglas fir but will also allow for CLT with non-bearing oak, beech or ash surface layers to be produced. The line foregoes gluing the narrow sides of the slats. The decision on the gluing system has yet to be made. In addition to the CLT-unit, Monnet Seve has also invested in a three-layer board production in Sougy-sur-Loire, company sources say.

Hering expects a very dynamic growth of solid wood construction in France. Forecasts suggest an annual CLT-consumption of 110,000 m³ as of 2020.
