According to Finnish Customs, Finnish shipments of softwood lumber to its main customer, Egypt, amounted to 989,000 m³ (+11%). British demand for Finnish softwood lumber was also strong, with exports totaling 598,000 m³, an increase of 18% compared to last year.
Sales in Estonia (597,000 m³; +26%), Israel (287,000 m³; +23%), and the Netherlands (238,000 m³; +21%) were quite dynamic, while deliveries to Saudi Arabia (323,000 m³; +13%), Japan (585,000 m³; +3%), and France (332,000 m³; +1%) increased moderately. In contrast, a double-digit decrease was recorded in shipments to China (343,000 m³; -13%). Cumulatively, deliveries to “Other countries” increased by 15% to over 2 million m³.
In the first half of the year, export volumes exceeded the respective 2024 levels every single month. From July to September, however, Finland exported smaller volumes of softwood lumber year on year.
