The insolvency administrator of the Ziegler Group, Volker Böhm of Schultze & Braun, has sold the company's two Swedish sawmills to a strategic investor. The buyer of “Green Wood Sverige AB”, along with its subsidiaries “Bäckebrons Sågverk AB” and “Balungstrands Sågverk AB”, as well as the associated sawmills, is the Swedish conglomerate Profura.
The Ziegler Group had only acquired the two sawmills from Profura in May 2022. According to the sales documents related to Ziegler’s insolvency, the purchase price at that time amounted to €113 million.
The Swedish sawmills were not among the 27 companies of the Ziegler Group that had to file for insolvency as part of the group’s bankruptcy proceedings.
Green Wood Sverige AB and its subsidiaries employ approximately 85 people across the Bäckebrons site (capacity: 130,000 m³/year of sawn softwood) and the Balungstrands site (capacity: 120,000 m³/year of sawn softwood). Profura, now once again the owner, has announced its intention to continue operations at both sites and retain all employees.
