In the first half-year, Russian lumber production grew by 4% compared to 2023 and totaled 14.5 million m³. Softwood lumber accounted for 13.2 million m³ of the total production and hardwood lumber for 1.2 million m³, as data collected by Rosstat show.
Lately, Russia exported 5.76 million m³ to China, its most important trading partner who received 44% of the softwood lumber produced in Russia. Compared to the first six months of 2023, however, China Customs Statistics reports a 2.4% decrease in Chinese softwood lumber imports from its neighboring country.
