Austrian lumber exports on the decrease

From January to October 2023, Austria exported 4.5 million m³ of softwood lumber and planed timber, i.e. 9% more than in the same period of 2022, when exports had totaled 4.9 million m³.

The biggest decreases were recorded in exports to Austria’s main foreign markets, i.e. Italy (2.1 million m³; -11%) and Germany (634,000 m³; -22%). Softwood lumber exports to Slovenia (427,000 m³; +45%) and Croatia (153,000 m³; +22%), on the other hand, have increased. Shipments to Japan nearly halved (122,000 m³; -49%).
