US softwood lumber price keeps rising

According to Madison’s Lumber Reporter, 2-by-4 softwood lumber (Western SPF, KD, #2 & better) cost US-$460/1,000 bft at the beginning of February, and was thus up by US-$66/1,000 bft compared to the week before. With a currency exchange rate of US-$1.07/€, European exporters earned €277/m³ (actual size, free Great Lakes region), i.e. €42/m³ more week on week. Compared to week 5 of 2022, the current price is still around €410/m³ lower.

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Lumber Futures are traded at US-$434/1,000 bft.
