Growing softwood lumber exports

From January to May, Sweden exported more softwood lumber. Main buyer Great Britain, however, received less. A marked increase was recorded in shipments to the US.

Sweden’s softwood lumber exports (incl. planed timber) totaled 5,99 million m³ in the first five months of 2022. Compared to the same period of last year, they grew by 4.9%.

Sweden managed to compensate for the decrease in exports to Great Britain (1.1 million m³; -14%) with increases in shipments to countries, such as the US (565,000 m³; +57.5%) or Belgium (212,000 m³; +46%).
