According to Madison’s Lumber Reporter, 2-by-4 (Western SPF, KD, #2 & better) cost US-$525/1,000 bft (free Great Lakes region) at the end of last week. With a currency exchange rate of US-$1.05/€, European suppliers only earned €329/m³ (actual size). For comparison, the softwood lumber price peaked in the week of March 21 at €827/m³.

This brings the closer to the ten-year average which is €291/m³ according to the Holzkurier’s surveys.

At the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Lumber Futures for July are currently at US-$611/1,000 bft, which would be €376/m³ if the currency exchange rate remains the same.
