According to Madison’s Lumber Reporter, the 2-by-4 price (Western SPF, KD, #2 & better) rose by another $ 15/1000 bft at the end of January to $ 940/1000 bft. As a result, European exporters again earn more than € 500/m³ (free Great Lakes region) and thus exactly 100% more than in the same period of 2020.

North American market experts do not forecast a fall in prices in the coming weeks. The expected demand is simply too high.

The drop in prices recorded in January was apparently only temporary. The fact that prices remained well above the $ 300/1000 bft-mark after the slump in November and at the beginning of December is also seen as a sign for a higher new normal in prices in the future.
