The ATA Group from the South of Sweden is acquiring two sawmills from Rörvik Timber, Huskvarna/SE. The takeover of the Rörvik mill will take place on September 1st, and the site in Sandsjörfors will pass into ATA Timber's ownership by December 31st, according to a press release the enterprises issued. Additionally, a new saw line will be installed in Sandsjörfor - operation start is scheduled between spring and summer of 2017.
After the sale, the remaining Rörvik Timber factories in Myresjö, Linghem and Boxholm have a total production capacity of 450,000 m³ of lumber. The measure is necessary to stay profitable in the long run, as the enterprise further informs.
Since the beginning of 2016, Rörvik Timber has been gradually downsizing: The group reduced its factories from seven (production volume: 800,000 m³/yr) to three. The enterprise announced the shutdown of the sites in Sandsjöfors and Tvärskog at the beginning of January. In mid-June, the Swedish Vida Group bought the site in Tranemo.
