To Franz Stallinger, owner of the Stallinger Holding, buying the former main plant in Frankenmarkt feels like "a great return to production". Together with "the old team" he wants to start off with a one-shift operation in January.
"Depending on the raw materials supply we might even be able to enter a two-shift mode. Anyway, also in one-shift mode successful operation is feasible - most recently, Mayr-Melnhof demonstrated this with a sawing capacity of just under 200,000 m³", Stallinger elaborates in a conversation with Timber-Online. Frankenmarkt's record in terms of sawing capacity is at 480,000 m³. "A profitable one-shift factory - admittedly I wonder why nobody bought this site before I did." The involved parties agreed not to disclose any details on the purchase price.
The "old team" consists of the two new managers Hans Peter Holzer and Thomas Disslbacher. Gregor Sommer will be in charge of sales. Over the past years, the Stallinger Holding mainly dealt with special assortments - now they will have their own production. "Europe, definitely the MENA-region and other overseas markets" are outlined as destination markets.
According to Stallinger, investments are scheduled for 2016 already; he hints at smaller upgrades. The site encompasses an expansion area of 4 ha that was originally intended for a power plant.
