On March 19, Finnish timber industry group UPM-Kymmene, Helsinki, and South African pulp and paper manufacturer Sappi, Johannesburg, submitted a request for approval of their planned joint venture in the graphic papers sector to the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Competition. The request was published in the Official Journal of the EU on March 26.
