The investment includes a new tissue paper machine and three converting lines for rolled and folded products. A fully automated high-bay warehouse and an autonomous transport system ensure faster and safer handling of finished goods and materials. The modernized Mariestad mill will improve the availability of tissue in the region, while reducing reliance on imports, as the Metsä Group reports in a press release.
The expansion will increase Metsä Tissue’s Swedish mills’ total fresh fiber share to 80%. Furthermore, 100 new jobs were created as a result of the investment.
