In the first three months, Germany exported 1.17 million m³ of softwood logs, recording a year-on-year decrease of 27%. As a look in the Datacube shows, exports have nearly halved compared to the first quarter of 2023 (2.28 million m³). The first three months of 2018 (679,000 m³) were the last time that Germany exported an even smaller volume.

Softwood log exports to Austria were down by 19% and amounted to only 512,000 m³. Marked decreases were also recorded in deliveries to the Czech Republic (140,000 m³; -19%), China (128,000 m³; -65%) and Belgium (114,000 m³; -27%).

Meanwhile, Germany exported much bigger volumes of softwood logs to Luxembourg (72,000 m³; +162%), Sweden (46,000 m³; +85%) and France (44,000 m³; +88%).
