Log and lumber price indices with increases

In January 2025, the Austrian log price index reached 158.3% (base: January 2001 = 100%). Compared to December 2024, it rose by 3.8 percentage points. Year on year (January 2024: 152%), an increase of 6.3 percentage points was recorded. The last time the log price index was at a higher level was in June 2023 (162.7%).

As for lumber, the Austrian Timber Industry Association reports a price index of 163.5% for the month of January 2025, which is nearly exactly the level recorded in June 2023 (163.9%). In December 2024, the price index was at 160.8% (+2.7 percentage points). Compared to January 2024 (151.2%), it increased by 12.3 percentage points.
